Common Cause

Common Cause was a weekly radio show on 2XX from around 1994 to 2005. The show featured news, interviews and commentary on various campaigns and issues – especially opposition to the US invasion of Iraq, the struggles of refugees in Australia’s immigration detention centres.

2000, December 17

Iranian refugees under threat of deportation. Australian government in full cooperation with the repressive Iranian regime.

2002, October 6

An extended interview with Amer Abdelhadi, manager of TMFM in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank. Discusses the current situation of siege and curfew by the Israeli army, and the role of the radio station in keeping community and civil resistance alive.

2004, February 27

A special show to promote a solidarity fundraiser with radio TMFM in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank. TMFM manager Tariq Al Mahabbe describes life under siege and curfew from the Israeli army, and the role of the radio station in helping people survive a brutal military siege and curfew, and to promote civil resistance to occupation.
