Gurindji strike

The Gurindji strike, when Aboriginal stockmen and their families walked off Wave Hill Station in the Northern Territory from 1966, is one of the longest and most famous strikes in the history of this country. Tanya lived in the Gurindji strike camp at Daguragu in the early 1970s.

Tanya gave this talk about the strike in 2015. An edited version was reprinted, featuring Tanya’s original photos, in Red Flag newspaper: https://gurindji.redflag.org.au
