The title came from the first George Bush in a promise during his presidency campaign in 1988: “read my lips – no new taxes!”  I recorded it at Radio 2XX – part of the campaign against the American Operation Desert Storm’ in 1991. 

Somehow it reached and was played on an American forces base radio station in Germany. They were already playing a rap against going to war with Iraq that they had recorded - ‘Just Say No!’.  They sent it to 2XX so it was heard many times in Canberra.
